The Cruel Man Used Me for Immigration
My name is Neelam Rani Parmar, am a Canadian Citizen and prensently reside in Calgary, AB. I was used by my husband Pritpal Singh Saroy as a medium to get immigration in Canada. My life took a turn when I was first introduced to Pritpal Singh Saroya in Canada through family friend. He originally from Delhi, India lived in USA for 11 years. He was a divorcee. Unknown to me he was under deportation order in USA. He made 3-4 application to get immigration in USA. Pritpal had no other choice but to get married to enter Canada.

Despite knowing the fact that a lot of people do get married to enter Canada, I went to meet Pritipal in Philadelphia. I was also a divorcee before I got married him. I met him and told him everything about myself. He seemed very understanding and kind. He said that he really liked me and wanted me as his wife. He convinced me that we should put our past behind and start new life. Our marriage took place on December 8, 2003 in India. I and my family spent $50,000 on wedding, airfare and dowry. The wedding was done according to his terms and conditions. After marriage, I stayed with him two and half months in Delhi, India. I got pregnant while I was in India. |
Since I did not have any doubt about his evil intention, I sponsored him as soon as I returned to Canada. Pritpal’s family lives in Calgary for about 4 years. I lived with his family in a basement suite. Living with his family was a nightmare and very tough. As days went by things got tougher and tougher. Pritipal’s mother Jagdish K. Saroya and his sisters Sukhjinder K Manhas, Parminder K. Saroy were never happy and cooperative. I still stayed there and waited for Pritpal. He was also aware of all this but was encouraging that everything will be fine when he comes to Canada. I trusted him and I sent a doctor’s letter to the immigration requesting to give him the visa before my delivery.
I delivered a baby boy on Sep. 22, 2004. I anxiously waited for my husband to come. On the day he got his visa he called me from India informing that he got his visa and the first thing he was going to do, is to divorce me. I was shocked to death about his suddenly changed attitude. I told my parents but we all took it very lightly. Thinking why would he do this I am the mother of his son.
Pritpal came to Calgary Nov.10, 2004. On third day, he told me clearly that you got your son and I have got my immigration and just get out of my life now. Pritpal’s attitude, and love for me and my son changed overnight. I still stayed with him because of my son thinking the love of the child would change him, but he never cared about his son. He kept behaving badly with me and my son so that I would leave him. He told me that he did not want any relation with me physically and verbally. He called me ugly, “I don’t like you anymore”, abused me, mentally tortured me and physically hit me. On April 22, 2004, Pritpal and his family hit me and kicked me and my son out of the house. I still cannot believe what I and my son went through. I just found out that Pritpal is planning to remarry in India. I am totally used by this cruel man for a sole purpose of getting immigration. He took away my all dreams. The immigration must do something about these people who use marriage for entry to Canada. Pritpal has clearly committed a fraud and he made me pregnant so it would look to the immigration that his marriage is genuine. These cruel people can do anything for immigration. He should be deported back to India. He should have no rights to sponsor other wife from India. Immigration must track his file. I am really depressed and devastated by his behaviour.
